When a shopping bag allows an ecological approach

Indeed, a plastic bag, even if reinforced and reusable, ends up being disposable after several weeks or months.
That's why plastic bags (like disposable tableware) are in the process of being banned, via the Energy Transition Law in early 2016. And the fight against plastic bags will continue to intensify, particularly against the bags offered in the produce sections for fruit and vegetables. While there are 5 billion checkout bags in France, plastic bags for fruit and vegetables still account for 12 billion units.
As of January 1, 2016, merchants will no longer be allowed to give their customers single-use plastic checkout bags, whether free or paid (art. 75 of the law on energy transition for green growth).
Only reusable plastic bags or non-plastic bags (paper, cloth, etc.) will be allowed to be distributed to package goods at the point of sale.
As of January 1, 2017, the ban is extended:
- single-use plastic bags intended for packaging goods at the point of sale, other than checkout bags, except for bags that can be composted at home and are made of biosourced materials, i.e. based on plant matter,
- non-biodegradable plastic packaging that cannot be composted at home, for sending press and advertising ( blister packaging).
